Making a BIG Splash

School starts in 2 weeks! I think I'm more excited than Jaxon at this point! Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed most of our Summer Vacation but there comes a time in every young man's life when he's had just about enough "Mommy time" and vice versa!
One of the ways that we've kept from killing, I mean driving each other, I mean staying busy this Summer has been by going swimming. Not only is it great exercises but it's also a great way to waste a few hours in an otherwise boring at-home afternoon!

Jaxon's big thing this Summer has been swimming in the BIG kids pool. Since he hasn't had lessons yet I wasn't sure this idea was a real great one until a friend of mine introduced us to arm floaties... or as I like to call them my lifeline to sanity at the pool! Jaxon thinks these little, plastic, lifesavers are the next best thing to sliced bread!
Max likes to swim too. Even more than swimming though, Max likes the snacks! Here he is enjoying a Chips a Hoy cookie while BIG brother makes a BIG splash!
Jaxon's learning to doggie paddle...
and use his goggles!
I dread telling him that the pool will be closing soon... oh well, PreSchool will be a great distraction!

Lil' Swimmers

Jaxon had been begging to go to the pool since the day our last snowfall melted! I finally gave in last week when the thermostat read 84 degrees in our house and I was feeling too cheap to turn on the air! I thought just maybe if we spent enough time away, the house would cool down... yeah right!

This was Max's 1st trip to the pool. I had the baby sunscreen packed, the Lil' Swimmers ready to go, his ultra violet sun rays protecting swimsuit set w/ matching sun bonnet, pool toys, towels... you get the picture, pretty much half the house! And in the fashion of my bad luck, after I'd hauled everything but the kitchen sink in w/ us, the water was too cold for him to get in!

AND since Big Brother was too excited to eat lunch he of course was starving after 2 laps across the baby pool which turned into an early snack of a giant Pixie Stick which he dumped 1/2 of on the concrete and got the rest wet so it wouldn't come out the plastic tube! Needless to say, we stayed for about an hour and a half before he was ready to get home and eat!

Can't wait to go back!!!

Holy Mud & Water

Jaxon: "Mom, do you know how elephants stay cool?"

He comes over and asks me this while I am counting calves so I'm not looking at him when I reply...

Me: "No, do you?"

Jaxon: "They cover their body in mud... like this!"

That's when I stop counting and look down at Jaxon.

Me: "Holy mud!"I run inside to grab my camera. When I return I find Jaxon in the front yard taking a bath in his swimming pool!Earlier I ask Jaxon, "Why is Max's head all wet?"

Jaxon: "I was baptising him Mom!"

Swimming pools are a great tool for summer time fun... they are also great for physical and spiritual cleansing!
